Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.
Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.
Police then located multiple other smeared cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement report early analysis indicate the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; officials are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for information.
An important representative stated the vandalism left him speechless and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine people by a gunman targeting residents of foreign heritage in five years prior.
